Welcome to the web page of Yancheng Teachers University (YCTU). These are exciting times for our university as we begin the journey of celebrating our sixtieth anniversary and building for our next cycle of sixty years. We are utilizing the strategic 13th“5-year planning” process to enhance the educational, cultural, and economic development of the university and the region it serves.
We are located in central Jiangsu on China’s east coast, about 185 miles from Shanghai. The city of Yancheng, known in China as “the world of red-crested cranes and home of Milu Deer”, has the world’s largest area of everglades west of the Pacific. It provides us with a major strategic base and a railway, air-transport and highway area status of some 8,000,000 people.
Founded in 1958 as Yancheng Teachers College, we later merged with Yancheng Institute of Education and Yancheng Business School into what we are today. Our efforts are targeted to prepare YCTU students to meet global opportunities and challenges through a learning-centred classroom environment; to expand the boundaries of current knowledge while exploring the practical applications of that knowledge; and to promote the economic growth, social development as well as educational progress of the region through excellence in service outreach.
Currently our enrollment of full-time students approaches 21,000, representing 30 provinces in addition to over 10,000 part-timers. Our two campuses, less than 5 miles apart, have grown to more than 240 acres. With over 1000 well-qualified staff members, nearly 100 of whom are graduate or doctoral supervisors with prestigious universities of China, we certainly offer unique cultural and educational opportunities to business, industry and the public of Jiangsu Province through performances, workshops, institutes, and continuing education programmes.
We invite you to take a look at YCTU. Better yet, we hope you will come visit our campus and give us the opportunity to personally welcome you.
